Al live at the half note with George Duke Trio

Postby tontontitou » Thu Mar 04, 2010 10:52 am

I just read Al's diary, about the Seattle Show with George Duke. George Duke has a "closetful of tapes of the G. Duke Trio + Al at the half note club around 1965-68"... We all want to listen to that stuff !!! Because we know that before his first official LP, "We Got By", in 1975, Al had been a great jazz singer for 10 years, and we have no recordings of that stuff. There's a missing part in Jarreau's discography, and I'm sure it's a great part. Al also talks about a tour with George Duke trio... please, come to Europe too (if you don't I will go to the States to see that...) !

When I read that I checked out the George Duke Trio website. Some dates have been booked already. Hope you and I get to see them soon.

YES ! I just read it in the George Duke website. They will go to the studio to mix the Jarreau/Duke trio tapes, and then go for a special tour together in the US in June ! Unfortunately, no concert in Europe scheduled. Will I have to travel to the states ? Great news anyway... Hope all american fans will get a chance to see and hear these shows.
